Chiana was great - irreverent, chaotic and fun.

The Orville Season 3, Ep. 1. Well, this was a lot heavier than I expected. Good Trek-ish episode, if maybe a bit too drawn out (esp. the action sequence).

I felt like the Hulu budget is higher than the regular fox one was. CGI of a better quality & longer sequences.
Colonel Caliga is Awesome.

Is the Orville actually good?  It looked painfully bad when it started. But I've never watched it.
PDH!

If you like Brannon Braga Star Trek, you'll love this.

I didn't like much of the first season but it got much better, now I think it's great

AMC seems to be developing a bunch of interesting shows--except they're not airing them on their network--prefering their streaming service instead

Agreed, the first season is kind of trying to mimic TNG era Trek, with some Seth MacFarlane humor added on top. It's fun, but it has some ups and downs, though I appreciate that it didn't always go the "everything is fine i the end" route of much of old Trek. In Season 2 it became much more its own thing.

I feel the makers of Strange New Worlds might have watched the show before going for the more relaxed tone on their show.

Streams on HBO Max here.  :(

Quote from: HVC on June 02, 2022, 12:56:53 PMAlthough my favourite character is stark. My side, your side.

Stark was really ... grating at times (though I guess that was the point). I never quite warmed to Jool. And of course there's Noranti who joins in season 4 and literally comes out of nowhere - with characters even calling it out during the opening action scene where she first shows up, and asking in between who she is and where she comes from or how long she's been on board, but then just roll with it. At that point in the show you're just like, "Yeah, sure, I guess this is a thing now."

Over the course of the series I go up and down in my opinion on most of the characters, except perhaps for Scorpius.  Jool was a late addition in a large cast and she never really seemed to fit in, but she didn't bother me too much.

Watched to the end and strongly recommend.

It's a very good sitcom but also deals really well with subjects like grief, depression and dementia. It doesn't shy away from the darker side but is still very funny.

I saw the first episode and seems decent.
Though I for one am sick of media representations of university as wild 3 year sex parties.

Also its weird to see the first example of a retro series set in the 2010s. It was only a few months ago I was shocked by a film being all retro about 2008.

I'm writing a retro late 2000s TV show

Wild 6 year sex parties. But they're definitely graduating this year.
