It all depends on whether you are in an active fandom for whatever show.

If you are, once a week is great.

If you aren't, binging is better.

But the one-show-per-week is a great way to build active fandom.

Perhaps you weren't initially interested in The Mandalorian, or Watchmen.  But you keep hearing about it.  So you catch up, then you can participate in that water cooler talk.

I found it rather meh.

Production values are good, pacing is good, violence is well incorporated into the story line, the interactions and dynamics are believable.

I've only had one cringing moment (the Burning Man sword fight) in three episodes.

However, not at all generous with naughty bits, but I guess it was a network show.

From the point of view of the show's producers, a once a week format is better for building hype.

From the point of view of the individual watching the show, the once a week format is only a benefit if they are, or want to be, in an active fandom.

Watchmen is awesome. I was kinda getting worried that the racial storyline and the themes/storyline from the comic felt really separate from each other, but they are kinda bringing them together now, and it works.

That last episode was so good. Possibly the best episode of television I've seen this year.

As an aside, if you're not watching the Watchmen ( ) you're doing 2019 wrong. It's the best thing on television right now.

The only thing I haven't liked so far is [spoiler]that stupid video of Veidt confessing to his plan, which apparently it is something every congressman has access to, and which is something comic book-Veidt would absolutely never do. It also cheapens the role of Rorschach's diary.[/spoiler]

Yeah I thought that was odd too. Maybe it will be better explained later?

I wasn't initially interested in Daredevil.  I kept hearing about it.  Than I binged it.  Same for Jessica Jones.  I didn't binge the other two because I heard it was crap and the Defenders kinda proved my point

Daredevil 3 was okayish.  Not as good as #1 and #2, imho, but okay.

Yeah, Daredevil S3 was a good finish. D'Onofrio as Kingpin steals the show. Alias season 3 was a stepup from 2, although still far from S1 sheer brilliance.

I loved both seasons of Punisher, too. Second was probably better, even.

Watched the Irishman. Pretty great, but damn it is long. I had to watch it in two sittings. It's essentially Goodfellas but without the glamour and fascination for mob life. So it doesn't have that infectious energy, but that's part of the point of the film. I.e. small details like every time they introduce a mobster character they tell you when (usually shortly afterwards) and how (usually viiolently) died. So all in all the film is a great tableau of how intertwined organized crime and political/labor institutions in the 1960s-70s, and how being in the mob destroys you emotionally and morally. It's odd how the movie makes you think back of Godfather II a lot, even because you get Pacino and DeNiro both in it and DeNiro even speaks Italian in a scene... Anyway, I have to go back and watch Casino to decide where this one sits in Scorsese's mob film pantheon.

That said, the whole deaging thing didn't really work for me. I actually had a bit of a hard time getting into the film during the first scenes, where DeNiro's supposed to play a 30-somehthing, and it's pretty obvious he's an old dude with makeup (digital or otherwise). You never believe it. It gets better when DeNiro starts playing closer to his age.

Al Pacino doing his Al Pacino thing while playing Jimmy Hoffa is awesome. Unrepentant scenery-chewing, but damn he is so fun.

I haven't finish the movie (going for sitting #3 ) but I agree with you on the de-aging. Sure, it made his face younger but he's still got the stiff body of a 70 years old.
