I saw Tim's zombie show. Pretty good, but feel gypped by the cliffhanger.  <_<

The Dirt (2019)

Yes, it's an episode of "Behind the Music," with nudity, scenes of drug use and projectile vomiting; but what an episode.  Mötley Crüe took the sex, drugs and... uhm... projectile vomiting much further than anyone (except Ozzy, of course.) 

They had to cut out some stuff (no Pamela Anderson even) and the film reaches the "Happy ending reunion" much sooner than the real Mötley Crüe did (ending when Vince Neil rejoined, rather than when Tommy Lee did.)  Still it's an enjoyably raucous/disturbing trip down memory lane for anyone who er... had friends who listened to hair metal 80s.

It only covers the first two thirds of the book (ending at Vince's return to the band.)  They didn't include the grossest excesses (no fecal art with Ozzy) and things that would really be outside the pale today (no sexual assault); but it's still pretty rude.  Mötley Crüe went with Netflix because every other studio they approached wanted to make a completely sanitized version of the book.

All in all a good flick.   I have a feeling I'm going to list more complaints than praise, but I (and the kids) enjoyed the movie.

It can't help but feel a bit anti-climactic compared to Infinity War, and nowhere near as funny as Ant Man & the Wasp, or Thor: Ragnarok.  It's yet another origin story, which we've seen a few times before.  Carol Danvers / Cpt Marvel / Vers  feels bit wooden at times - perhaps because of the whole amnesia storyline, or perhaps because she doesn't have the same effortless charm of a Robert Downey Jr.  We'll see how she plays out in future.

Yeah,  there weren't any surprises in it.  It had the bad luck of following "Black Panther" and "Into the Spiderverse." I thought it came across as vanilla as compared to those origin stories.

Thought they'd make more use out of the 90s setting - other than a handful of gags about how slow computers are (and of course crashing into a Blockbuster) it could have been set in the modern time.

There was the bone phone, two way pagers, the grunge look and Alta Vista as well.  (Plus Stan Lee is rehearsing his lines to "Mall Rats.")  I think they did a decent job of making the film look a little less slick, shiny and high-tech than the other Marvel movies.

The Mallrats bit was an awesome easter egg. Good final cameo for Stan Lee.

But yeah, the film felt very safe. But heck, I was entertained so I won't complain. SLJ and Larsson had great chemistry.

You know, as a kid I never really got into comic books.  I was too smart for them - I read real books.  To the very limited extent I did read them, I was more of a DC guy.

But you know what - Marvel/Disney has got a formula down to make entertaining movies.  I think at this point I've seen every MCU movie save Hulk (which has terrible reviews).  And the way they've built up the storylines between movies has been fascinating to watch.

I don't think I'm a superhero fan.  But I like fun, action-comedy type flicks, which Marvel/Disney knows how to produce in spades.

I watch superhero movies like it's an inverted porno, I flash by the action scenes and just watch the dialogue. I've kind of had enough of pixels fighting pixels endlessly.

You're not alone! :)

My cousin had a few comic books, mostly Spiderman, and I kept reading them whenever we get there.  I hated that there was never a complete story in one comic book though :)

There was an anime on tv as a kid, some kind of Avengers tv show.  But I really liked the X-Men later in my life. :)

There are two Hulks.  The one with Edward Norton is good.
