Caught the preview of Martin's dreck.

Looked pretty good, considering.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica is expected to finish this month. I am excited. Despite other people's concerns for the lack of innovation in anime, really it seems to me 2010-2011 has produced some of the best stuff there's ever been. Everyone's a critic, I guess.
I've been waiting for it to finish before watching it. I've heard it's great.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.

It is fantastic. It is to the mahou shoujo genre what NGE was to giant robots.

Expecting Camelot to be anything but shit is optimism beyond the reasonable.

To be honest, with Purefoy, Greene and Feinnes in the cast I'd expect som reasonable sense of avoiding jumping the shark and not letting BBC diversity guidelines kill the show. Purefoy suggested that this was the BBC of Rome rather than the BBC of Robin Hood.

Purefoy looked like Mark Antony on steroids and with a severe case of Tourette's, I think.
Still it is somewhat better than Outcasts, where the only non-British accent heard is from The Evil Genius Julius. A look into our bleak future tells me I'd better practice my pronounciation or get left behind on Earth.

I watched the first season of an anime called Spice and Wolf.  It is about a peddler going around trading.  I enjoyed it.  No giant robots or weirdness that is usually in Anime.
PDH!

Spice and Wolf is pretty great. I only just got around to watching the second season a month or so ago.

But actually- if you like no giant robots or weirdness, there's oodles and oodles of that. There are many anime with less fantastical elements than spice & wolf.

But really, this isn't a very useful post without a picture. Come for the wolf girl, stay for the economics.

And just like that, I am cured of my racism in favour of a blinding hate against all of humanity which is guilty of spawning this atrocity.

You're all going to die.

I saw the trailer for Hanna.  Please, do tell me the movie doesn't end with "I'm your mother, Hanna" ?

Yeah, but the Japanese more than most.

So... totally overrated and incomprehensible?

The timely and much-needed deconstruction of a stale genre, obviously.

But,  You couldn't understand NGE?

Better luck next time

Maybe you should try Serial Experiments Lain.

So ho was the first episode of the Borgias?

I did. Quite promising IMO, if a bit too long (they joined the first and second episodes to make a mastodontic debut). Gorgeous period dress galore, heavy on the political machinations side, the deviations from history are palatable, nothing outrageous.
