Politics here is understood broadly to include social issues, religion, economy etc.

Friends/acquittances are understood as people you spend your free time with rather than people you "have to" spend time with (such as coworkers or family members).

I'm wondering how it is for people here. I have several real life friends and acquittances with whom I meet for a beer or so and we often get into heated discussions about politics, social issues, religion etc. I guess a lot of it would be cultural.

Winner of THE grumbler point.

I don't know how to answer this question as none of the options fit me. I discuss politics with some friends, some of whom have the same views and some of whom who do not.

I am a special snowflake. None of these categories can define me.

The Larch

I miss a "I don't discuss politics often with my friends".  :P

CountDeMoney

I used to avoid talking politics within the social context, but the gloves come off against anti-choicers, the ACW, Islam and the People's Liberation Army of Israeli Surplus.

Some of my friends disagree with me, but too goddamned bad.  I bought my friends Keith Olberman bobbleheads just to make the fucking point anyway.  They know this nigga's crazy.

I have no friends but if I did they wouldn't share my opinions. No one shares my opinions and that's a damn shame.
Colonel Caliga is Awesome.

Josquius

Most of my friends share my viewsish. They're left of centre at the least. I only know a few conservatives and I try not to hang out with many- christians do not good party people make.

I never talk about them.  None of my friends share my political views.  I don't give a shit about their ill-informed views and they don't give a damn about my crank insights, so instead our conversations revolve around aesthetic trivialities.

DGuller

It depends.  Some people like talking about politics, some people are bored silly with it.  Some people are able to discuss politics, and some absolutely cannot.

Politics and Finance are very much the major topics of my conversations, both private and in social occasions. Which is hardly surprising, as my occupation and interests are heavily linked to both.

Btw, a colleague of mine recently returned from Poland after the burial of the President.

Her opinion of Poles:

"All the women are like top models"

"All the men are butt ugly"

Which makes Martinus' gayness even more incomprehensible.

"I have no friends."

Surely you jest . You are clearly the type that can gather people at will around you.

Unless you don't care about others at all or are surrounded by idiots.

No one shares my opinion.  I'm either too liberal or too conservative.
I don't do meditation.  I drink alcohol to relax, like normal people.
