So now that the 80's and 80's revivals are safely over which of the longstanding rivals' music was better during the decade?

In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace—and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock

I had to go with Jackson. Prince's music, while memorable for me, just doesn't have the historicalness associated with it to make it great.
Winner of THE grumbler point.

Who the fuck picks Michael Jackson over Prince?  WTF?

Posts here are my own private opinions.  I do not speak for my employer.

I'd pick Jackson as I have no recollection of Prince music but Prince is a Vikings fan.

Frankly, that's more and enough to even surpass the Beatles.

Why pick one, when you can have Prince Michael Jackson?

First Maxim - "There are only two amounts, too few and enough."
First Corollary - "You cannot have too many soldiers, only too few supplies."
Second Maxim - "Be willing to exchange a bad idea for a good one."
Second Corollary - "You can only be wrong or agree with me."

Prince by a broad margin, if we're talking about music.  Prince I will actively listen to, whereas an MJ song on the radio I don't mind, but I'm not settling down for the usually awful "deep cuts" on his albums.   Purple Rain as an album can easily hold its own against Thriller, not to mention all of Prince's other work.
"The internet's completely over. [...] The internet's like MTV. At one time MTV was hip and suddenly it became outdated. Anyway, all these computers and digital gadgets are no good. They just fill your head with numbers and that can't be good for you."
-- Prince, 2010. (R.I.P.)

Sophie Scholl

"Everything that brought you here -- all the things that made you a prisoner of past sins -- they are gone. Forever and for good. So let the past go... and live."

"Somebody, after all, had to make a start. What we wrote and said is also believed by many others. They just don't dare express themselves as we did."

Jackson, I don't think I even knew Prince existed in the 80s, and while I appreciate his music now, he's never gonna over take Jackson's position of 80s supremacy in my mind.
It is far better for the truth to tear my flesh to pieces, then for my soul to wander through darkness in eternal damnation.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.
