I'm proud of you, for doing your civic duty!

Imagine if we all had to pay our taxes directly, quarterly or yearly, instead of it coming out of our paychecks where we get used to just not having the money. I think the amount we pay would feel a lot more noticeable for the average worker and family.

2009.  The tax return is not due until April 15.

My new job is tax research and apparently researching and writing up the report on the US tax system is the poisoned chalice of our department

Years ago, a mad scientist put a thousand monkeys in front of a thousand typewriters in order to figure out how long it would take them to pen the collected works of Shakespeare.  After a decade, their only progress towards the goal was a single, short line from Troilus & Cressida.

On the positive side, they did manage to type out what later passed Congress to become the US tax code.
