Christmas is upon us - Gift advice

What the title says. I thought it would be a good idea to have a thread where we can ask and receive advice on which gifts to buy (or avoid)

I will open the thread with a few recommendations:

- USB dock for hard disks. Granted, it's a gift for nerds, but it's a very useful piece of hardware. Cheap (about 20 euros) and solves a lot of storage and backup problems.

- Oblivion. Nuff said.

- Valkiria Chronicles (PS3) I bought this one with many doubts, but it's surprisingly fun and interesting. I don't think many militiamen kept their dad's tank in the barn in 1935, tough, not even in Switzerland (which is the obvious model for 'Gallia' the country of our heroes)

I love Valkiria Chronicles. 

As for Christmas presents, I suggest that you declare yourself anti-Christmas commercialism, and hence you refuse to buy gifts for anyone.  Ask people not to buy stuff for you too.

Good gifts depend on the recipient. For instance, while a tie shaped like a fish is great for your dad, it's not so great for sis(unless she's a lesbian).

With that in mind, here are my recommendations:
Father- hunting gear, funny ties, funny t-shirts, slippers
Mother- iron, ironing board, set of sponges, commemorative plates
Brother- socks
Sister- stuffed animals
Girlfriend- mixed cd, can of mace(be sure she's really your girlfriend first though!)
Boss- sex toys
Everyone else- 5 dollar McDonalds gift certificate

I'd been hard up to find gifts for niece/nephew here while at home.

Today's acquisition:

- Nerf sniper/assault rifle that can split into an smg/pistol.
- Nerf assault rifle with 30-round barrel magazine

And for me to hold off the horde (and pass to my brother when I go back to Alaska)...

- Tripod-optional, heavy Nerf SAW with 25-rounds of belt-fed ammo.

You're missing the nerf chain gun.

Nerf stuff is great.  It' big and bulky so you get visual appeal, doesn't break the bank, and you can borrow it off and play with it on Christmas day.

After work I'm stopping my Tiffany's to get the wife this stupid $200 silver key pendant thing.  Hasn't Tiffany's ever heard of a sale?  It kills me paying full price for anything around the holidays
