QuoteSoldiers of the German armed forces Bundeswehr attend a Great Tattoo parade in Berlin, December 3, 2009. Former Inspector General of the German armed forces Bundeswehr General Wolfgang Schneiderhan and deputy defence minister Peter Wichert have resigned after accusations that the military withheld information about an air strike in Afghanistan.                                            REUTERS/Ahmad Masood

I love seeing the German soldiers knowing that they are now good guys.  Especially in those helmets.

What does the Afghan shit have to do with it? Is this about that or just a normal thing?

That's just the reason the general resigned. We had a thread on this a week or two ago.

Yes. It's a military tradition dating back to the renaissance. I think it looks cool. :p

The honoured person can select some of the music pieces that they'll play. Gerhard Schröder had Frank Sinatra's "My Way" for example.

Sounds funny played by a military band.

Other than that, they'll play some traditional songs.

That is very cool.  Thanks for posting those pics.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.

There's something about german soldiers marching with torches that makes me slightly uneasy, though it really shouldn't.

It makes everybody uneasy, and for good reason.
