So, I went to my GP who knows I'm gay and managed to get her to write me a free general blood and urine, hep-C and HIV tests slip.  :cool:

Not as good as last year, when I got her to give me a free tuberculosis scan, though.  :P

used to be hardly ever before my High Blood Pressure spiked a couple of years ago. now I see the doctor every few months for prescription for the medicine, and occasionally I get a physical - once a year - more like every 18 months so far.

I don't believe in a regular health check. Sure - take a blood pressure once every 4-5 years, and then go to the doctor when you feel sick.

Some screening things, mostly for women, are perhaps cost-time-effective, but PSA screening isn't.

"I'm required to" is an option for people who perform jobs that involve frequent medical tests.
"On my own" is an option for people who initiate the tests by themselves, by going to a doctor/clinic and asking for them to be performed.

Not really. "Sex" is biological, but gender is about identity/psychological. But I agree that in the context I used it, "sex" would be a more appropriate word.
