You know what is even more stereotypically gay than a sweater vest?

I am not asking about fashion advice. I am just asking if people wear vests. I wear vests. I like vests. I am not asking for advice.

vests make one look older. it's very 19th century rail baron, capitalist banker. I think it works only as an accessory to extensive facial hair.

now when I see vests on much younger men who are clearly not 19th century capitalist banker rail barons, I think more along the lines of prefabricated pop band. like the Monkees. awkward.

I was given a vest once at Xmas. I never wore it and eventually gave it away.

Yeah we'd nickname that particular type of vest a wifebeater too.
But it isn't the only type- basketball players wear vests too.

I have an Eddie Bauer down vest that I love for spring/fall (and it's great for curling).

 I just realized they named it a "Yukon Classic Down Vest".

Yeah, but that's a jacket. I don't think it's what Marty's talking about.

Err, how's that a jacket? It's sleeveless. Jackets have sleeves.

I mean it's an "outdoor garment". Sorry if I'm not a bloody fashion semantics expert.  :P

I bought my first vest recently.  It isn't hideous sweater vest though.

Well, my Ohio State sweater vest just got tainted.  :(

I fucking hate Languish.

Is Languish seriously saying this man looks gay?

depends on the vest, and the person wearing it.
:p

I agree with Rubbarb.. I wouldn't leave home in my tux without its black silk west and my pocket watch and chain :)

Nor would I go to a wedding in white tie without the accompanying white west ;)

And to some, a few, a three piece suit CAN be stylish, even if not a railroad baron or 50+ of age :)
