Good location, very centric. I hope it has a garage.

Tamas, why not just drive straight through to Barcelona?

If it is only 1000km, and assuming you can get on divided highways all the way, that's very doable.  It means a lot more time actually in Barcelona.  And at least for the Italian part of the drive I found the Autostrada to be very fast moving.

Heck - 2-3 years ago I drove with my wife and my parents the 1300kms from Calgary to Winnipeg in one day - in winter...

He's travelling with his mom IIRC.  Her magic spells weaken if she doesn't get her rest.

Read again Councillor, there is 1000+ to Genoa/Italian border, another 1000-1200 to Barcelona from there

I see.

And while I have done a 24 hr straight drive, I also swore to never, ever do it again.  :yuk:

Yeah its 2000kms. If I could seriously believe that for example,  I could get just a hint of rest while my father was driving, or vice versa, I would consider doing it but a small SUV with 5 people? That's not going to happen.

Plus this way altough we will still have skip any sightseeing in Italy (or the visit to Pedrito :( ), we would be able to appreciate the actual trip a bit more.

Speaking of long cartrips, I may very well drive to Verdun this year, maybe as soon as late April. Will open a new thread about that in due time. :D

If you did it in 2011 the Barrister clan might even join you.

I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011
