Yet another reason to hate having a border with Russia. But here is an article in norwegian translated by yours truely.

The driver delivered a folder with all eight of the Afghans Afghani passports and Russian documents signed by the chief of the border crossing Boris Gleb, and approved of the Russian foreign department in Murmansk.

The eight asylum seekers said that they had paid a Human trafficker US$13,000 to be transported from Moscow to Murmansk and Norway. Immediately after reporting to Norwegian Police they were sent to Oslo. There they await a reply from UDI (The Norwegian Directorate of Immigration).

Norway has reacted strongly on this issue and the Department of Justice calls the dumping of the asylum seekers unacceptable.

I know. WTF. Stuff like this just pisses me off. It's my tax Kroner that go to pay for this stuff.

For foreigners trying to understand Norwegian Politics the Left Party will refuse to support any government containing the Progress Party and the Progress Party will refuse to support any government not containing itself. Hey at least the Russians honored the contract.

Where did the Russians pick them up?
This would make sense as being down to the typical lazyness of less developed countries if it was near to the border in the first place- sending them home would cost a lot.
Still not excusable of course and they should have been more subtle about it but it makes sense.

The last leg was from Murmansk to the Norwegian border. Previously they had gone through Moscow from Afghanistan.

Well, presumably if he were running FROM something he might seek asylum at the first reasonable point where he might be safe from that something. Not many Talibans in Moscow.

But if the point is to get to the country with the most generous asylum seeker benefits then yeah, he would have no reason to seek asylum in Russia. Being a taxpayer this pisses me off.

I was more thinking about the fact that Russia probably isn't so popular in Afghanistan, due to the whole little thing where they invaded and attempted to conquer the country.

OTOH there are tons of Vietnamese here.... though I believe most are of South Vietnamese origin.  I went to high school with a kid whose dad had been an ARVN general (I think he was an engineer in his post-Vietnam career).

There are alot of central asians in Russia. Moscow is full of them. However since the russians are racist scumsuckers they get treated like shit.

I'm just pissed off that of the asylum seekers that do arrive here (circumventing the UN system) more than 90% get rejected, but despite that the bulk of them do stay regardless unless they are from a european country(sans belarus).

The Norwegian system for dealing with asylum seekers is dysfunctional. I want it fixed.
