Very odd. V3 used to crash on my old intel machine and is now very stable on my win11 AMD X3D machine  :hmm:

I run the game on an AMD rig. It works fine, but I've turned off all the bells and whistles that AMD offer with CPU and GPU.

HoI4 would not work because I had those aforementioned bells and whistles turned on.

Could you adjust the RAM speed in BIOS and just see how it goes, Syt?
Victoria 3 does have an extremely long load time even from an m.2.

I noticed I was missing an optional Windows update, so I installed that. I've been able to run an observer game now till 1901 (took about 2.5 hours) ... fingers crossed that this is the issue resolved. :P

One of the things that kept bothering me about Vic3 is how the events would interrupt the soundtrack all the damn time, even if you lower the volume of the event sounds all the way.

Went looking once again if anyone had a workaround .... yes! This mod:

It's simple - it modifies the file that defines all event sounds to be blank. Sure, you will no longer get the screaming/sawing sound of someone having their leg amputated or little fanfares, but the background music now plays uninterrupted.

(Previously I played music from Spotify instead :P )

I know everyone's on the EU5 train for now, but this dev diary for the Vic 3 DLC also looks nice (preview of the FREE patch content):

In short, laws become more interactive - you can try to bribe interest groups to either support or at least not oppose certain laws. It will depend on how amenable they are (comes in 4 tiers, from will not change mind at all to easily swayed).

Additionally, amendments might be added to laws during the legislative process which will also be a mechanic to further flesh out country specific laws (the dev diary cites the difference between French and British wealth voting).

Additionally, there will be new production methods for plantation, with the options to make it harder on the slaves/wage labor - esp. if low worker rights - together with making plantations more profitable, i.e. encouraging plantation economies more. They'll also add slave revolts.

And, if a monarch is underage, there will be regencies going forward.

All in all more exciting changes coming to the game.
