The Minsky Moment

Now we know why the US was wanted to suppress release of the MoU text for as long as possible.
We have, accordingly, always had plenty of excellent lawyers, though we often had to do without even tolerable administrators, and seen destined to endure the inconvenience of hereafter doing without any constructive statesmen at all.
--Woodrow Wilson

Grey Fox

Netanyahu overplayed his hands and now Trump is screwing him over.

Classic Trump at work.
Getting ready to make IEDs against American Occupation Forces.

"But I didn't vote for him"; they cried.

The Minsky Moment

QuoteThe United States of America further undertakes to remove its forces from the proximity of the Islamic Republic of Iran within 30 days after the final deal.

Iran dictates regional deployments to the global "superpower"
What a humiliation.
We have, accordingly, always had plenty of excellent lawyers, though we often had to do without even tolerable administrators, and seen destined to endure the inconvenience of hereafter doing without any constructive statesmen at all.

The Minsky Moment

Quotethe Islamic Republic of Iran will make arrangements using its best efforts for the safe passage of commercial vessels with no charge, for 60 days only

QuoteThe Islamic Republic of Iran will conduct dialog with the Sultanate of Oman to define the future administration and maritime services in the Strait of Hormuz in discussion with other Persian Gulf littoral states in line with the applicable international law and the sovereign rights of coastal states of the Strait of Hormuz. During these discussions as to future sovereign control over this critical international waterway, the United States will be standing alone by itself uselessly, dunce cap on head, and holding its microdick in its hand

And compare:

QuoteThe United States of America undertakes to terminate all types of sanctions . . .
and
QuoteThe United States of America undertakes with regional partners to develop a definitive, mutually agreed plan with at least USD 300 billion for the reconstruction and economic development of the Islamic Republic of Iran
and
Quotehe United States of America . . . will fully end the naval blockade within 30 days.

with

QuoteThe United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran have agreed to resolve the disposition of stockpiled enriched material pursuant to a mechanism that will be mutually agreed
and
QuoteThe Islamic Republic of Iran will maintain the current status quo of its nuclear program,

For once, the pre-release leaks didn't do full justice to the complete and utter humiliation of the United States.
We have, accordingly, always had plenty of excellent lawyers, though we often had to do without even tolerable administrators, and seen destined to endure the inconvenience of hereafter doing without any constructive statesmen at all.

Does the US have to withdraw whatever is in Turkey as well?
e.g Incirlik base.

Also the reflecting pool on the National Mall is now green in honor of Islam.  :osama:

I read the MoU.  This is astounding.  We are paying 300 billion in reparations and may be retreating from the region.

Before 2029 Taiwan will be held by the communists.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

Serious historical question: Is this the most disadvantageous diplomatic deal ever agreed in American history?  The Paris Peace Accords didn't end well but the provisions on paper weren't so bad (had they been enforced). Maybe the sellout of Poland at Potsdam? The ultra-nationalists would point to the Panama Canal treaties, I suppose.

I'm struggling to find a historical precedent.  I think you have to go back to the period where America was paying tribute to the Barbary pirates.

Within two weeks half the country will be calling it the greatest victory in our country's history.

Nobody else could open the Straits of Hormuz as quickly

I'm laughing because I find it preferable to crying.

Americas Russo-Japanese war?

JR, you might want to check your source, as you appear to be quoting from an Onion piece.

If this happened in a Paradox game the community would go berserk complaining about bugs and unrealistic outcomes, "game has been shit ever since the Trump DLC came out"  :hmm:

crazy canuck

No way the US would scrap a perfectly good agreement and then go to war to get this.  Whoever coded this event should be fired

In several surveys, the overwhelming first choice for what makes Canada unique is multiculturalism. This, in a world collapsing into stupid, impoverishing hatreds, is the distinctly Canadian national project.

Its all Obamas fault. If he had made a better deal trump wouldn't have had to get involved  :smarty:
