Recently Mexico exceeded 200,000 deaths to become the third worst affected country.

Yesterday the Mexican government revised up its official death toll by 60% to 321,000.   :(

I wonder if that is going to be a long-term consequence of covid - that we change behaviour at winter because we know we can seriously reduce the number of flu deaths through a little bit of distancing, wearing masks etc.

I don't think anywhere will fully lockdown, but I feel like a public health campaign around taking some of extra hygiene steps to save lives might work.

AMLO does his best to catch up with Mijairzinho (Bolsonaro).

Mexico's been horrendous. Bolsonaro gets all the attention because he's a Trumpy populist, but I think AMLO has been as bad if not worse just in a slightly different way :(
Let's bomb Russia!

It's been known for a while, and there's public healt messages about it every year, at least over here.  Not that's it a thing outside of the hospitals, however.

But having no flu this winter and the last was a huge relief :)

Not gonna wear a mask everywhere, though.  But washing our hands everywhere I go might not be so bad.  I do wonder of the long term effects on our health, though; are we gonna be less resistant to future infections because we're so hygienic now?  I mean, not for a year or two, but if we keep at this for a loooong while.

We're all livin' on a prayer, right now, I guess.

Just read on Twitter that Germany is partially pausing vaccinations during Easter.

Same in Austria.

Karfreitag is more extreme than I though.  :hmm: "Silent" holiday...

Good Friday is not a public holiday in Austria. Easter Monday is.

I don't get it either.

Left-wing media bias! Quick, there's a meme to be made! Not just for Syt's sisters, in fact.

New restrictions in BC - our PHO described the increase in infections since last Thursday as "exponential"

So Vienna has extended its lockdown by a couple days. Instead of from 1st - 6th April, it will now run till 11th minimum. Additionally, the city is thinking about making masks mandatory in some public outdoor spaces.

The neighboring states of Lower Austria and Burgenland who are as badly hit as Vienna will stick with the original lockdown from 1st till 6th and will otherwise "wait and see" despite desperate pleas from the federal health minister (who receives zero backing from the chancellor at this point).

Yeah somehow having medical records is something only Nazi Germany has ever done. I was surprised by that as well.
