I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein's brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.

Extending the map is easy.
I'm curious about how they'll mechanically handle all these very differently structured states.

Is Japan a Song tributary? They look the same color.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.

That'll be a key area where things are hard to manage, hierarchies being less single* and often very slack.
The mandala system in se asia is particularly alien and would need something completely different to model it.

*though that was one think ck3 failed to fix from earlier games. Lords with multiple overlords were a thing.

I think tributaries can be more lax at the moment.

This was an excellent break down. Are there any other CK3 streamers you'd recommend?

Not really, I don't really follow others. I like OPB, because he tends to lean more into the roleplaying/history side of Paradox games.

It's way too easy for random courtiers to escape arrest. I'm King of Hungary. My wife, the Queen was assassinated. After a few months my spymaster discovers it's my lowborn caravan master (married to a lowborn fool).

Why did she do it? Who knows. How does she only have like a 44% chance of being arrested? It boggles the mind.

Hell, my spymaster, a Duke, should have the authority to arrest any non-landed character on the spot if he discovered they killed someone, especially the Queen.

My half sister, who my father fought a crusade to make her queen of Pommeria started a war to claim the HRE. As soon as I checked that she was fighting a kid, I was all in. Her two children died of disease years ago, so I was her heir.

We won, but then had to finish a few more wars that had been declared against the previous guy. She died and I inherited not only Pommerania, but Bohemia! I have no idea how she managed to grab that in the time between becoming empress and dying (less than a year, for sure). Since i have three sons that worked perfectly. Gave Pommerania and Bohemia to my younger sons. Used all the money I inherited to make Wallachia a kingdom and gave it to my brother. Some other guy is Emperor now, but who cares, the eastern half of the Empire is controlled by Árpád kings.

I don't think I've so lucky since I inherited Italy as Byzantine Emperor like ten years after an 867 game start with CK2 a decade ago

That sounds pretty interesting to me. I'm actually getting pretty stoked.

The Japanese and SE Asia governements seem cool.

Not sure that the Chinese government will be fun when things are going well, but unstable and chaotic play does sound fun.

OPB has started a very fun RP playthrough in Sicily with RICE (which adds a struggle to Sicily). The first episode is just historical background:
