It is far better for the truth to tear my flesh to pieces, then for my soul to wander through darkness in eternal damnation.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.

Probably because the creators weren't designing a deck of cards.

Could have fooled me with all the clubs, diamonds, hearts, and spades they put on all their characters :hmm:

Why not nine arms then?  :hmm:

I'm limited by the original character design, basically.  ;)

The exact reason I thought a deck of cards made sense.  :)

Yeah that unicorn has had it rough in multiple cards in this deck.

Yeah that unicorn has had it rough in multiple cards in this deck.

This is a different character - the earlier unicorns have bodies.

There are three different types of unicorns in the show: ones that are basically just horses with horns, that the other characters ride around; unicorns that represent the spirits of magic (shown a few times in previous cards); and floating unicorn heads, which are more major characters. This one is Star's best friend, an annoying semi-sociopath named "Princess Ponyhead"; the scene on this card comes directly from an episode.

Basically, the devilish-looking woman discovers that the lifetime of abuse she has suffered growing up was all in pursuit of a lie (she was actually the heir to the throne who had been deposed and sent to an orphanage as a baby, where she was deliberately taught to hate herself; she had no idea who she was, growing up). This discovery breaks her mind, causing her to go on a destructive rampage and regress into a sort of sadistic mental infancy, while growing in power. Ponyhead tries to stop her and gets mutilated for her pains, with her horn ripped off.  The devilish-looking woman (Meteora) then goes on to eat the souls of everyone she comes across.

Meteora ripping off Ponyhead's horn was a kind of turning point, where Meteora becomes a major menace.

Malthus, that's real nice.

Thanks!

The colour separation for this card was particularly challenging for me - working with only three colours makes that always an issue, but this card took a lot of fiddling.
