A defeat for Bannon, Putin, and Berkut. :yeah:

Looks like a good result even if Lovely Eyes didn't win like on Languish.

She seemed to be ecstatic with the result, and rightly so.

And it takes something big for a German to do this:  :P

I imagine that Turkish attempts to throw the election to Wilders will subside now.

Results at >99% counted. Wilders edges into second place, but still soundly beaten.
Expect another right wing coalition for the next four years :bleeding:

Duque de Bragança

Previous leading party loses seats and the Social-democrats get thrashed...
So Fancy Hair gets more seats and he is soundly beaten?  :hmm:

Sounds like a Pyrrhic victory to me.

It is when 2-3 months ago he was comfortably leading the polls.

We might be lucky and maybe seeing Trump's mess is having a sobering effect on some of the least insane populist voters.

America will save the world again, through its own selfless sacrifice.

Duque de Bragança

So Fancy Hair was hyped to get traction by whatever media and make it sound like a huge victory? Understood!

Liberals lost seats  but they are the largest party by a larger margin than last time. Their coalition partner Labour got trounced for being completely dominated and unrecognisable in the coalition.

Wilders got a few more seats but not nearly as many as he hoped. And not nearly as many as needed to make a difference, since none of the other larger parties will work with him.

And on top of that the chance of a Nexit happening anytime soon seems pretty slim.

Fancy Hair's most popular platform was about stopping islamisation so it's not like voters would have followed him for Nexit, is it? Do the Batavians have a problem with Poles, Balts and Romanians (excluding gypsies) like the Brits?

Plus, the economy is not in a bad shape.

PS: once again low expectations are key... I am afraid more will be needed to score such a big victory in France.

it's classic Wilders: high scores in polls, less so on election day. As always.

and it's not like the parties aren't becoming tougher on the issues he champions.

this was an interesting read given the topic of populism

Yes they do. And Wilders has been railing against eastern Europeans as well, until he found out that railing against Muslims gets him more votes.
And he has repeatedly stated he wants to take the Netherlands out of the EU.
There may not be a perfect correlation among his voters between anti-Muslim and anti-EU, but given their general stupidity nothing correlates much anyway.
