I don't agree with this. Engineered incompatibilities are terrible for tech.

I just don't see how it makes Gates look any better in comparison.  Microsoft under his watch was notorious for trying to control your computing experience.  Do the words "embrace, extend, extinguish" not mean anything to you?

Yeah whatever. Buying a software package is not exactly the same as making fucking hardware that costs many times more generic competitors. And it is not like OS is that great.
