Putting this here so we can see how it works out.

Quote from: Jacob on February 04, 2025, 08:36:15 PMWas reading a thing that says this is the strategy - similar to how Putin entrenched himself in Russia. Overwhelm the discourse with fake news (nothing is real), bad news and chaos where ever possible (it's too much to cope with), attacks on anyone with any kind of integrity (they're all the same) to push the population into a kind of exhausted stupor that stops them from pushing back against the take over.

Did the author of article explain what pushing back against the take over means in practice?

Quote from: Grey Fox on February 04, 2025, 12:53:29 PMFederal Department of Education is being axed.

I mean that doesn't even really do anything. All the programs that the Department oversees would just be sent to other departments. They would need to cancel each program in Congress. All axing the department would do is bureaucratic reshuffle.

Apparently, there are protests scheduled in many state capitals tomorrow, but no media talks about it.  Kinda weird.  Seems like there has already been protests about the DOGE takeover too.

I don't know man. We have a state run by a religion who have a primary social goal of getting everybody married off and having as many babies as possible and soon as possible and they even they cannot achieve a 2.1 TFR anymore.

Ah, in other news, Columbia has cancelled a huge petroleum contract in the US.  The contract was confirmed Monday by the Columbian state corporation, but cancelled by the President tonight under the guise of environmental protection.

A huge fracking project in Texas and New Mexico, apparently.  Was supposed to produce 90 000 barels a day.  Ecopetrol was to invest 880 000 000$ in this project.

I guess Columbia is really scared of Trump now...

It is kind of funny. When Trump goes after Colombia and Mexico, Texas Governor Abbott is horrified but dares not say a word. As soon as Trump got into it with Canada, a steady stream of "YEAH! FUCK CANADA! GET THEM MY GLORIOUS MASTER" statements came from the Governor's Mansion. He was just so excited to be able to participate.

But yeah he has to be clenching his buttocks right now.

I think we will see quite a lot of this sort of thing going forward. In a competition for contracts non-US companies will have an advantage over their American counterparts; the USA is no longer a reliable trading partner.

Never before has a country destroyed its credibility so fast and so thoroughly in such a short amount of time...

It's ok, nobody expects Trump to make any sense, least of all his supporters

It is all about vibes

This has to be how people felt in the Roman Empire during the reign of crazy emperors like Caligula... only with less horses in the senate. Waiting for him to order soldiers to collect sea shells so he can claim victory over the ocean.

I do wonder what his minders think, or do they not care about his weirder tangents and are just going about their work?
Being lazy is bad; unless you still get what you want, then it's called "patience".
Hubris must be punished. Severely.

Most people in the empire probably weren't really affected by the shenanigans of the crazy emperors due to the limitations of tech. This time round....

Anyways, it's the cabal around Trump that's the bigger danger.
With president Ellen musk owning the treasury and all the data therein...

Gregg Abbott was put back in his seat by Dimitri Soudas, formerly from the Conservative party on Twitter.  That was a joy to see.

CIA offers buyouts to workforce as Trump administration continues efforts to scale back government

Wit the recent offer to deport all Gazans by sending in US troops, things are looking good for the US...

Not sure how many allies are going to answer to the next 9/11...

Fuck, stay safe guys.
