I have little doubt that QAnon Shaman dude is mentally ill.

But I also think that other mentally ill people who exhibit poor judgement and break the law get punished beyond all reasonable proportion in the US justice system. Ideally, the understanding exhibited towards the mentally ill is distributed evenly, rather than applied mostly to specific subsets of the population.

Its a tricky one. I have no doubt he is ill.
But at the same time you just know if he does get off easy due to this he'll be laughing about it, he's aware enough of his state to exploit it.

The social network — started a month ago by members of former President Donald Trump's inner circle — features reams of jihadi-related material, including graphic videos of beheadings, viral memes that promote violence against the West and even memes of a militant executing Trump in an orange jumpsuit similar to those used in Guantanamo Bay.

The rapid proliferation of such material is placing GETTR in the awkward position of providing a safe haven for jihadi extremists online as it attempts to establish itself as a free speech MAGA-alternative to sites like Facebook and Twitter.

Those are exactly the kinds of situations for which pardons were created.  Unfortunately, the pardon power cannot correct injustice if the wielder is a partisan hack more concerned for his image amongst his voters than for justice.
