Objecting to oppression carrying out in God's name is a good thing.  Objecting to people talking about their faith in public is against both freedom of speech and freedom of religion, and makes you the would-be oppressor.

I don't recall that.  But there has been lively debate of where the separation of church and state should be appropriately placed.
