Quote from: Malthus on July 28, 2017, 01:43:55 PMAt least in the US, if you are on the political right, your party has been yanked out from under you by the crazies. If you aren't opposing them, you are enabling them; and opposing them, it seems, requires migrating to the other party, since internal opposition has proven ineffective or non-existent.

how are you defining the "political right"? cruz & co are quite successful lately, and they're the definition of the US right

only the uber moderates like collins and murkowski seem to meet your "requires migrating to the other party"

Are you kidding?  Cruz was the poster boy for "Anyone but Trump" Republicans during last year's primaries;  if not for Trump, he would have likely been the nominee.  I think it's fair to say that Trump yanked the party out from under him.

LaCroix

also the dow is doing marvelous. there is optimism in the US economy.

a personal loss for cruz doesn't mean the political right isn't doing quite well. it's doing better now than it has in ages

False positive.  The stock market has been a closed rake game for quite some time now.

but the stock market is becoming even more accessible with the rise of the internet. DYI investing is so easy. all one has to do is find a fund everyone uses (VTSAX), squirrel a little away, and done. if it was ever wink-nudge closed off, it's becoming less so with each passing year

So when the stock market crashes just like Trump's healthcare plan, which it will, it'll all be because of Trump or will your ilk blame Obama?

Somehow I just don't think that would bea wise decision.  :hmm:

There could be something to that.  CNN had a piece which pointed out that with the departure of Spicer and Priebus the only member of Trump's inner circle with ties to the Republican political establishment is Kellyanne Conway.  The rest are New York businessmen (Bannon, The Mooch) or family members (Jared Kushner and Ivanka (who are, of course, also businessmen from New York as well.))
In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace—and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock

Well I guess Seedy was right all along.  This is right on his timeline.

He is surrounded by armed guards.  No way he is worried about someone punching him.  That's reading too much into things.

He's not afraid of being punched. He's just too cowardly to fire someone to their face.

Rumor that Trump modeling is being investigated for han trafficking.

So suck on that, Mono.

I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011
