What does a TRUMP presidency look like?

Carter took the blame for operation Eagle's Claw.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

Random photograph is random.  Tim does this all the time, and will continue to do it.

Tommy, remember to not embarrass yourself in front of the president when we meet him.

I always take my steak medium to well done.  They are far, far more better that way.  The flavour comes from the spice and the way you cook it, not from the meat itself.  Take pork and cook it the same way you do your steak, with the same spices, and the flavour will be very similar.
Yes, a lot of organic matter, and even some of inorganic matter, will taste similar when cooked the same way a well-done steak is cooked.

I do eat medium stakes occasionally, but the slightly more juicy texture/taste usually does not compensate for chewing on half-cooked meat like the past million years of evolution never happened.

A high quality steak cooked to medium rare doesn't take much chewing.
 A good steak skillfully prepared is actually at its most chewable when medium rare.

Apparently Donald gave a good speech last night. Perhaps this is the turning point???

 Frank Luntz was running a focus group last night, and a woman said something along the lines of, "I'll see the real Donald Trump again sometime on Twitter in the middle of the night."

I thought it was a pretty good speech.  The fact that nobody here wants to talk about it seems to confirm that notion.

I didn't watch it. But then I place some value on my time.

I didn't watch it either.  At some point it's not only justified but preferable to prejudge what someone will say.  I know that Trump is a liar through and through, so the only uncertainty about any of his speeches or tweets is how polished the lies are going to be.  From the news titles I see on my feed, it sounds like this one was very polished, but it should matter zilch to any rational people by now.

Yeah, but when he had a pretty terrible speech, you apparently thought it was pretty great as well, so that doesn't tell us much.

I thought it was clear someone got through to him and convinced him to stop saying anything he thinks, and just read this speech someone else wrote for him. I don't doubt that there is someone in DC who can write a decent speech.

So I guess that is...good? It shows it is at least possible for him to stand up and say what people want to hear, rather than just running his mouth with whatever random crap slides into his senile mind?

I listened to the first couple minutes on the radio and after this bit, I decided that was enough Trump for one night:

QuoteThen, in 2016, the earth shifted beneath our feet. The rebellion started as a quiet protest, spoken by families of all colors and creeds, families who just wanted a fair shot for their children, and a fair hearing for their concerns.

But then the quiet voices became a loud chorus, as thousands of citizens now spoke out together, from cities small and large, all across our country.

Finally, the chorus became an earthquake, and the people turned out by the tens of millions, and they were all united by one very simple, but crucial demand, that America must put its own citizens first, because only then can we truly make America great again.

(APPLAUSE)

Dying industries will come roaring back to life. Heroic veterans will get the care they so desperately need. Our military will be given the resources its brave warriors so richly deserve.

Of course, I shouldn't be surprised that a guy who thinks kicking out 0.3% of people in the American economy will somehow "rev up" the economy to a >3% growth rate displays magical thinking.

For trump, it was an outstanding speech.  For an adult, it would be rated "meh" at best.  No one here has anything to say about it because there isn't much to say.  Trump didn't totally fuck it up, as is his wont, didn't outrageously lie, as is his wont, but also didn't say anything interesting, which is new but not much of a topic for discussion.

If this is the Trump we get for the remaining 11 months of his presidency, that will be okay by me.  he's a lot less terrifying when he is boring.
