Senator Thad Cochrane of Mississippi resigning due to health. Now, I'd say that's a GOP lock this November, but a Dem just won in Alabama which is even more of a GOP lock, so anything can happen.

That victory depended on the Republicans nominating a complete creeper

Mississippi is going to be having two senate elections this November. In the current political climate what are the odds that the Mississippi GOP is able to avoid nominating a weirdo for one of those seats?

I was a little bummed to see George P Bush still win the Republican nomination for Land Commissioner comfortably despite his remarkable incompetence and his pro-Trump propaganda offensive against his Ron Paulite opponent. Ah well.

But nationally the GOP did quite poorly in 2006, so I'd consider it a good sign.
