By a serious act of domestic political violence I mean one or more occurrences which result in an assassination of a leading political figures, or death of several ordinary people or massive damage to property (such as riots) that is perpetrated by US citizens not affiliated with international terrorist groups nor working for a foreign government.

I expressly included Bernie's supporters among the left and Trump's supporters among the right to prevent a Languish trademark quibble over semantics.

Sure. Far-right nuts seem to shoot up a black church or Jewish retirement home roughly annually. I think a Committee for Social Justice executing people for cultural appropriation is a less likely occurrence, tho.

I am going to keep this thread for future reference. Bernie does not get a nomination but Trump does? Who knows what alter-left will do.

I'll let you know when they shoot me for mainsplaining why it's fine to wear a rasta hat.

I personally have no idea; I'd say no, but otoh it wouldn't surprise me if several incidents that meet your criteria already happened with some regularity and they just go underreported. Property damage in particular.

I think riots or protests are almost a given but an assassination is unlikely.

Of all the possibilities, I see a left wing assassin being far more likely than a right wing.
Winner of THE grumbler point.

After Trump's primary victory, GOP Senators will stab him to death on the steps of the Capitol.

Like RFK, Bernie Sanders will be shot dead in California by some moron. It will be deemed "not terrorism" as the perpetrator was not Arabic-looking.

That could be Cruz's fate too; although in a rare show of bipartisanship they could get Democrat Senators to join in for that.
In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace—and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock

I'm sure Paul Ryan would like to get more involved in straightening out this mess, but between "Nuns on the Bus" chasing after him and now the ascendance of a Jesuit Pope, he's got bigger things to worry about--like excommunication and saving his soul from eternal damnation.

Unlike RFK.

Pretty sure RFK did not shoot himself, but Sirhan Sirhan was not only Arabic-looking but an Arab.
