One syllable FTW.
So let's stick to Lee, Ian, Eva, etc....

Here's one syllable: putz.
Eva..Mostly true. It does sound of blend. The only person I know called that gets called just the first one too.
Ian is one syllable though.

Unless one vowel or the other is not pronounced, Eva is two...
Ian might depend on where the speaker is from, the 'ia' can be a diphthong...

*edit* Cormac? Mother fucking Cormac? Speaking as someone with a weird name, i beg of you, let your wife name your kids.

Cormac?!?
Cormac is a fairly common name in Ireland. I'm guessing it's not in Canada or America.
Yeah, not so common here  . I have no real problem with "weird names", it's moere the fact that Spellus picked those two names as ones that wouldn't cause the kid problems :D
Fair enough. I'd agree with you on Esther. It'd probably be considered a bit of an old woman's name (along with Agnes) here. Had a quick google and I see there was a Jewish Queen of Persia. So that's probably why he picked Esther.

Esther minimum of beatings? WTF is wrong with you.

Cormac?!?
Doesn't Spellus come from one of those retarded third-world immigrant communities?  It makes sense that he'd be retarded.
Your own name comes from one of those 'third-world immigrant communities' if you're including the Irish community.
It must bother you that your name is Irish.  :P
Not at all.  It's alright because it is my own.  It was also rather popular around the time I was born.
I do not hate you, nor do I love you, but you are made out of atoms which I can use for something else.

LOL.  Cerr knows me pretty well, correct guesses on both.  Both Esther and Cormac would go well with my last name, too.  I like the name John, for instance, but it would sound kind of weird with my last name.  So does Michael.

Eva, sounding somewhat similar to Aoife, definitely has 2 syllables. Are you sure you're not getting it mixed up with Eve?

Ian, if it's pronounced In, yeah, it's one syllable.  Ian, if it's pronounced Ian, is two syllables.

In Eva, the "a" is obviously silent.

No, its one.
Talking to myself saying Ian repeatedly I can see how you can stretch it out to two but thats not the normal way.

Eva was just a mistake, wasn't exactly putting deep thought in here. Though I do know a girl called Eva but no one calls her that, she always just gets more like 'Ave' sans A.

Well, when I call you a schmuck repeatedly, I can stretch "schmuck" out to two, but that's not the normal way.  Scha-muck.  In.

If "Ian" is pronounced sorta like "yoon" then, yeah, it can be one.  It can also be "ee-an" as well.
