For a while I've been thinking about the role Hollywood has played in this. Lots of 80's and 90's movies about the lone, well armed, dude being hunted by "the Government" and using violence to defend himself. "Enemy of the State" and the like.

Since a lot of people get their world view from entertainment that shit must have had an effect on peoples distrust of government and in extension their views on gun control.

We need a wave of films showing a more realistic version - humanised government agent and their team track down and stops well armed mentally unstable nutter.

*looking at Wikipedia, the two last ones were a gang related shooting in 2015 and the anti-immigrant shooting of 2009-2010.  Strange.  Being so far from the US is like you are protected from so many illegal guns entering the country...

As the article said, it's a school for adults. Including Swedish For Immigrants. Motive still not known, but it's hard to think it's a coincidence that the shooter decided to attack a place with predominantly non-Nordic immigrants. The shooter hasn't been officially named, but signs suggest an ethnic native Swede. The usual loner socially inept guy.

I think the King did a good job today when he visited the scene. He's always good in these situations, simple words from the heart.

Is the trans thing real, or FUD thrown into the news-cycle for political reasons? I recall a few other times where the perpetrator was alleged to be trans, with no evidence, to spin the early news cycle.

The trans factor, whether real or not, does explain why this one is actually being reported.
Come to think the last one that got reported was a person with possible gender identity issues too.

We're bringing our live coverage of the shooting in Minneapolis to a close.

Two children, aged eight and 10, have been killed in the shooting during a mass at Annunciation Catholic School.

The killer opened fire with a rifle through the windows of a church and struck a group of children as they sat in pews.

The attacker has since been identified as 23-year-old Robin Westman, a male born as Robert Westman.
