I finally decided to call it quits and retire after 25 years in the Army. Going on terminal leave next week.

Now I have to get a real job.

Congratulations, and best of luck, Hans.  What sort of civilian job will you be looking for?
In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace—and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock

Congrats.

You at least get the vet bonus during the hiring process.

The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

Well, at first I was offered a job through some friends working overseas, paying about $1,000 per day, six weeks on, six weeks off. I would have worked with the best of the best in some somewhat dangerous places.  Naturally, my wife vetoed it.

Next I was offered a job involving a lot of stateside travel teaching PSYOP and IO, but my wife doesn't like that one either.

Then I was offered a job at Bragg, but I really don't want to work there.

Next I thought I could do something a lot less stressful than my current job, so I looked at becoming a cop (how hard can it be if CdM can do it?), but my wife vetoed that as well.

I'm now looking for a job as a project manager, since that has been essentially what I've been doing for the last decade.

Finally leaving Socialist nirvana? Trying to hack it in the real economy. Gosh, how... brave of you.

Gotta listen to the wife.  Don't you have a kid growing up now?  It's probably best if you settle down a bit now.  Good luck.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

Yes, my daughter is now 9 years old. I've been a geographical bachelor for the last two years as I've been working in Virginia Beach while my family is in Raleigh; hence, I now need to listen to my wife.

I'm disappointed you weren't able to fire your boss President Obama.
