Well I plugged it in, and then nothing.  Nothing at all.  Power wouldn't start.  I took the card out and the power wouldn't start.  I have to take out the new card turn unplug the machine for 10 seconds and then restart it for to even power up.  I'm a bit perplexed as to why.  Any ideas?
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

PSU too weak? That you didn't have the connector makes me suspect this way.

When I bought my new graphics card a few months ago it was dead on arrival. Also a possibility.

I fixed it.  The problem was I wasn't wedging it in with toothpicks, apparently.  I didn't know that was a "thing" in computers.
