So, there seems to be a proposal on the table for a rather ridiculous sounding bridge in London: Garden Bridge, between Waterloo and Blackfriars. It is meant for pedestrians and it is supposed to have trees and plants on it. Amongst a number of criticism directed at the proposal (expensive, innecessary...) it was claimed that only 8 people would be able to use it at a time and that no bikes would be allowed on it.

The Brits, with their usual flair, have also reacted with dry wit, making a competition for new ridiculous bridge proposals. Here's the website:

QuoteA Folly For London is a platform for articles and public engagement regarding the issues underlying the proposed Garden Bridge in central London, as well as a free-to-enter and open-to-all satirical competition for architecture of the absurd.

We are looking for the most absurd, illogical, egotistic and obtrusive designs for the public green space on London's South Bank which would be sacrificed for The Garden Bridge.

You will be hard-pushed to think of something quite as daft, inappropriate or wasteful as the current proposal – but that is your challenge.

And here are the winners!  :w00t:

This is my favourite.
