See if "Enable legacy USB devices" is enabled in your BIOS settings.  If you went with a cheap keyboard/mouse or used an old one you have laying around, it's very possible that they're USB 1.0/1.1 and need that setting to be enabled to be recognized by the OS.

if nothing works, either buy a newer keyboard and mouse combo, or find older PS/2 hardware to unstuck you from such situation.

GF: I tried two different ports and neither worked.

DSB: the keyboard/mouse were working fine until I tried to install new USB drivers.  I am using the old Mac Pro keyboard, though I do have a cheapo Logitech that I purchased since I'm going to try and sell the Mac.

Viper, I'd kind of prefer to not go out and spend more $$.  I don't have an old PS/2 keyboard or mouse hanging around.

Well, maybe there's someone you know near you that has one?  Or another mouse for another computer?

You could try booting without the mouse & kb attached, replug them and see if Windows will detect them.

btw, what is the brand&model of your keyboard&mouse?  Is it wireless?  If so, did you change/recharge the batteries?

If you want a cheap kb&mouse combo for 18$, certified to work on Win10:

As mentioned, it's an Apple keyboard, together with a Logitech mouse.  Both wired.

It's not a keyboard problem though - it's definitely a USB driver issue since:

A: they stopped working after I started installing USB 3.0 drivers (the install asked me to click "Next", but mouse stopped working)
B: both work fine in BIOS (and when connected to the Mac), and only stop working once Windows boots up.

This is quite a pickle, Beeb.

It happened to me as well.
If Windows boots, uninstall the USB 3.0 drivers. If you can.

And do as DSB says, enable legacy USB drivers in BIOS.

Picked up a PS2 to USB adaptor. See if it works

It did not. There's $7 down the drain.

Reinstalling Windows now.

And back on the re-installed Win 7.  Managed to get my USB 3.0 ports working too, which was what sent everything upside-down last night.

Meh - it's been a fun project to work on. :)  Nice feeling of satisfaction when things get working.
