They're fugly. I don't know about good art, good in what sense?

They're political statements, right? So don't have to be beautiful art, but mainly to get the point across that the artist is trying to convey.

For something that claims to be art I would think that mere "message" would be insufficient; if it was solely about "point" then a billboard slogan would have got it across just as well. It would be equally as unsubtle, anyway.

To call these pictures "art" strikes me as being insulting to all the political or satirical artists of the past, be they acknowledged greats or simply determined journeymen. A five year old might not be able to create a picture like this with a specific "message" but he could produce one of equal artistic skill and merit in all other respects.

He's no James Gillray, that's for sure.

They don't have to be art at all.  And they are not.  They are ham-handed cartoons.  Something hideously unaesthetic doesn't become art simply because it is trying to make a point.  I'd argue the same point about the crucifix in the jar of urine.
The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain.   -G'Kar

Agreed, however I never really wanted to dump on monger's acquaintance.

Looks like some early Fireblad LePen work, really.  :hmm:

How much?

Was monger's buddy trying to advance the argument that Erdogan was Wubya's lap dog?

I remember when any critisism of the Bush adminstriation could be hand waved off by the that phrase.  It was pretty much Yi's goto phrase.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

Was it, I've always associated the phrase with Valmy. Obama = Hitler too.

Any US President that didn't die shortly after taking office = Hitler.  We just have the worst luck.

Interesting juxtaposition of the passive and active voice Raz.
