I have to say one thing though.  When it comes to any religious or superstitious beliefs, the Chinese tendency is to adopt a shotgun approach, just to make sure that they'll hit the target no matter what.  I've seen devoted self-described Christians worshipping other traditional deities, consulting fung shui masters, praying at Buddhist temples, etc.

Wagering on black and red at Pascals's roulette wheel, eh?

Sounds like what China needs is an Ieyasu Tokugawa of their own.
I do not hate you, nor do I love you, but you are made out of atoms which I can use for something else.

They tried that route.  Didn't work out so well.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

China needs more money and more people.  A few billion more.

A billion more people and a billion more yuan?  :hmm:

Preferrably say 3 billion more people and many many trillions in US$ :contract:

How about this, you can have as many people as you want, but the billion yuan is all you get to feed, house and clothe them.

China will be contained, and eventually impoverished.  Once they are contained, they'll start to collapse, just as all fascist governments do.

Well, I've been hearing this prediction in the past three decades  :hmm:

They feed themselves.  I keep the billion yuan.  Deal  ;)

The Soviets laughed at it as well.

Apparently neither did the Russians.
