Remembers me of this friend of mine - who's a bearded and dark-skinned Spaniard - that received a visit from the NYPD because a neighbor thought he was a muslim doing "strange stuff" (he works in film production and moves a lot of film equipment around), and called the police.

It still is though it has taken quite a beaten with the stats suggesting that it drove up costs / took up time of first responders without really causing any drop in crime (or helping to prevent incidents).

Every November I see strangely dressed men walking around the woods with guns in November.  Often they seem to wear some weird combination of army camouflage and Highway maintenance bright orange.  I report it, but nobody cares.

What are you supposed to do with this case if you're a smug America-hating Euro?  While you definitely love stories that show how racist Americans are, wouldn't you also like the idea of private citizens not being permitted to fire their guns?   I'm just glad I'm not in this position.
