9. Ukraine: Maria Yaremchuk – Tick-Tock
:hmm: How strangely appropriate.

Their on-stage hamster wheel felt appropiate too.

Eurovision used to be a major thread around here, now it is Liep talking to himself with a handful of other posters asking pervy questions and for pics of slavic girls.

Languish is dying.

They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.

I'm embarrassed. I've been making the mistake of associating with you. It won't happen again. :)

In the past it was a bunch of Euro posters saying how stupid Eurovision is and how nobody but Eastern European yokels care about it.
Quote"This is a Russian warship. I propose you lay down arms and surrender to avoid bloodshed & unnecessary victims. Otherwise, you'll be bombed."

Zmiinyi defenders: "Russian warship, go fuck yourself."

Not entirely, there was one eastern european in particular that I remember caring oh so very much.

Marty used to be the backbone of Eurovision threads.

BTW, why did they name it Eurovision when it's music?  :hmm:

So who won? Who was cheated? Who humiliated themselves? What are the political implications? Where Russia or THE Ukraine there, and if so, how did they do? Was there any unexpected voting? Who were there any really hot women that we need to check out (and if so, pics or link please)?

An Ukraine seems to be a lock to win, based on what I saw*.

* I saw nothing, but do you really need to this year?

So Ukraine wins? I guess that means next year the contest will be hosted by Russia.

Finals are not until saturday. I'll be working then so this'll be completely dead unless Syt is just too drawn in by the HOTT Austrian participant.

It's the Eurovision Song Contest. In the 50s when it started it was pretty novel for a simultaneous broadcast across Europe, so Eurovision. It's music so 'song'.

I'll be watching :)
Let's bomb Russia!

Syt

I've stopped following it, since it went from a format where you would often have some funny/outlandish acts to just bland pop in the last few years. We used to have a get together with friends where we'd watch it to poke fun, but we couldn't even be bothered to do that the last two years.

Despite her unusual exterior, Conchita Wurst can actually sing rather well. I was a bit surprised by it, because I figured her to be a mere comedy act. But no, not gonna watch.

I'm not sure I'm willing to drink what it takes to be able to sit down and watch the whole thing.

Might have a glass or 2 of wine and catch snippets of it plus the voting.
