Fight unfortunately. Several times I've woken up at night and in my half asleep state thought I saw something and instinctively shouted and lashed out. Once resulting in hurting myself pretty badly as I punched a wall.

Fight, unless the other party can do something to hurt me.

I thought my default reaction is flight.  But on second thought it may not be.  The one time when I really faced a fight or flight decision, I chose fight.  It was the first day of moving into our new house in Vancouver.  I was in the alley, when a medium sized dog jumped toward me.  I figured that there was no way I could outrun the dog, so I (tried to) hit it with what I had - an umbrella.  To my surprise the umbrella hit the ground.  The dog chose flight.

Flight. If you fight back successfully against an assailant in Sweden you get years in gaol.

"Fight".  I've spent years now breaking up fights and haven't been in one since I was 12 or so.  I immediately head toward trouble and try to end it these days, so I'd say that represents a "fight" answer as being more appropriate.

Fight, but only on the grounds that I'm to obese and unfit to run.

I voted run but my natural instinct is to try and talk my way out of it.

Always fight to the bitter end.

Running only makes you an easier target.
