Because it was very important to know

Well, the good side of this story, is that math can help in your litterature studies ;)

So, no reason to skip math classes in high school now :P

I'm skeptical of stuff like this.  It reminds of that Russian guy who used math to prove human history only goes back 1200 years.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

Is that the same one who says that the Dark Age didn't happen (not in an obnoxious it-wasn't-dark-because-they-had-a-great-and-not-at-all-ignorant-culture way... but rather in a that-part-of-history-didn't-happen-at-all way)?

I think he sees the Dark Ages as "Pre-history".  Written history only starts around 1000 AD and the rest of it was made up by the Jesuits.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Chronology_%28Fomenko%29

Uh, thanks Phil.  I don't know what we would do without you.
