Municipal elections suck

I voted in Calgary.  Nenshi, the Purple Emperor, is a lock for Mayor but we have a lot of interesting and close Councilor races.  The main issue in the Calgary election has been the home building developers vs. the increased density advocates, urban sprawl versus so called sustainable development.

Municipal elections in the rural county where I live are always fun.  There's always at least one candidate named Nation or Shelburne since those two families dominate local politics.

There's one dude who keeps running over and over for a city council seat in Iowa City who's entire platform is legalization of chicken raising within city limits.

We had one like that in Champaign. He got elected last time, and now we get chickens in Champaign.

(Urbana has been allowed them for years. We felt gyped. )
