BTW, what kind of name is Geddy?  Any sort of ethnic connection?

Josephus

Geddy Lee balding? Seems to still have all his hair. Lots of it.

Gordon Lightfoot played at last year's 100th Grey Cup.

He looked much what I imagine Vecna to look like. :hmm:

I saw a Geddy Lee interview before Rush was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  He looked like a balding Wicked Witch of the West.  Maybe all Canadian rockers are cursed to look like fictional monsters in time.

You might be on to something.

Okay, how about:

I saw a Geddy Lee interview before Rush was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  He looked like the Wicked Witch of the West with a receding hairline.  Maybe all Canadian rockers are cursed to look like fictional monsters in time.
In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace—and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock

There is a good story there.

His name is actually Gary.  But his mother (who had a very strong Polish - iirc- accent) pronounced it Geddy and that is what he used as his stage name.

edit:  I looked it up.

QuoteThe story goes: my mother is Polish and she has a very thick accent. When I was about twelve years old, I had a friend who, whenever he heard my mother pronounce my name, he thought she was calling me, 'Geddy'. He started calling me 'Geddy', and eventually, all of my friends started calling me 'Geddy', and eventually my mother started to call me 'Geddy', for real. And eventually, I changed my name legally to 'Geddy', so that's the story and that's my name, Geddy

A lot of bands I enjoy, but only The Band is worthy is top honors.

I knew there had to be one other sane person.

His last name is not Lee either. It's some Yiddish name. Weinrib, i think.  There's actually a good story around about him being the son of Holocaust survivors.

According to Wikipedia, he used to be Gary Lee Weinrib. His parents were both Jewish refugees from Poland. As for "Geddy", his mother had a thick Polish accent and one of his friends misheard his name as "Geddy"; that became his nickname, and it stuck.

I didn't imagine it was possible to make Seeds look young and hip.

Cohen is happening with hipsters and I recall lots of kids listening to rush when I was a teen.
