It was pretty good.  Basically, the Rock goes to South America for some reason with Stifler from American Pie, there are alot of explosions, and he gets to bang some hot chick at the end.

80s action film fans and connoisseurs should be quite hyped up to The Expendables (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Expendables_(2010_film)).

The film, directed and starring Stallone and set to open next year, is about a group of mercs in South America, fighting against a corrupt general turned dictator.

Just check the cast:

I mean, wow. There's only Steven Seagal and Chuck Norris missing there. It has everything: Stallone, the Gobernator doing a cameo, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren (Brain ->  :w00t: ), Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Danny Trejo, and more 80s feel than a Flashdance/Karate Kid crossover.
Wow that sounds amazing!  :D

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.

Hugh Jackman is probably the best of the bunch.  Eric Bania could do more action if he wanted to.

I cannot help it: Each time I hear that name, it makes me think of a porn name: Huge Jackman.

Indeed Richard III was a good action flick.

Seeing the blade pierce Robert Downey Jr's chest as he is tied down to the bed with the cute blonde stewardess giving him a blowjob, wow, it is so Shakespearian.  :P

I do look forward to Robert Rodriguez' Red Sonja, though.

Isn't that the chick that was fucking Marilyn Manson?

She is too ugly, too fat, and too old.

I've never even heard of that one.
Not too surprising though given his best known was the Scorpion King....

Plus it has a great Christopher Walken role.  It's one of my favourite mindless action flicks of the decade.

You mean Dita von Teese, the stripper, err, burlesque artist? No, this is Rose McGowan. And neither of them is ugly, fat or (looking) old.

What Slargos refers to as "Teh Golden Age" is to a time when the plausibility of an action movie was more dependent on the plausibility of the character played by the lead action star rather than the plausibility of the special effects. Conan/Rambo/Rocky/Die Hard had little special effects apart from explosions and stunt men.

I think you might have a point there.  It was also a different time.  Before computer special effects it was much more expensive to make these films so they were somewhat rarer and thus more memorable.  Hell one of the thing most talked about these films at the time was the budget!
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

While it may be different out in the arid expanses of the desert, where you guys have to fuck little kids for fun, over here chicks over the age of 14 aren't considered "too old".

Rose McGowan's looks are fine.  It's her head that's fucked up.
