This past week I was in the Smokies.  My AAR follows:

PIGEON FORGE: We rented a cabin about a mile from Dollywood.  We spent about a day and a half there.  It was better than I thought it was going to be.

GATLINBURG: We visited a 'moonshine' distillery.  Really they are just making corn whiskey and, since corn whiskey tastes like shit, flavoring it with stuff like cherries, apple pie spice, blackberry, etc.  We bought a mason jar full of 'apple pie' flavored moonshine.

SMOKIES:  Just drove through, stopping at Newfound Gap and some other scenic vistas.  My dad can't do physical shit anymore or I would have climbed Clingman's Dome again.

CHEROKEE:  Went to the Unto These Hills outdoor drama, the Oconoluftee living history village, and visited some chintzy touristy shops.  We also stopped by the Qualla Crafts council building where my dad noticed some stuff by a guy with my surname.  Did some research and discovered that quite a few Cherokee have it, which is bizarre since it's a very German surname and I had no idea anyone in my lines had ever married into the Cherokee.

Also visited the casino.  Lost ten bucks, then gained ten pounds at the Paula Deen restaurant.

ASHEVILLE:  Visited the Biltmore Estate.  Didn't have time to do the full tour, so just visited the winery, 'tasted' about a dozen wines , bought a Merlot, Cabernet, and some sparkling thing Princesca wanted, and had dinner.

While disgusting it's not quite retarded enough.

No wonder Europe made a hit song about it.

Evidently, dipping into the apple pie flavoured moonshine has rotted your memory.  :D

Oh, I forgot.  I taste-tested all of their moonshine varieties.  One shot each.  I believe they have 11 varieties.

Is your plan to get the wife liquored up on apple pie flavored moonshine so you can get to third base?  :hmm:

She never drinks as much as I do at tastings. :(  At the Biltmore she only tasted two of their wines, one of which was their Riesling, and she told the guy that it sucked.
