Prenda Law in Trouble

So the guys who'd find the IP of people who downloaded porn, went to the ISPs to get the name of the subscribe, and then sued subscriber for piracy (but were willing to settle for hard cash before they released the name to the public as part of proceedings) seem to have gotten themselves into some hot water.

Yeah, there's a company in Germany doing the same - they seem to be connected to a right wing biker gang, of all things.

Austrian ISPs, in the meantime, have repeatedly rebuked attempts from music companies and the likes (private non-law enforcement agencies) to get IP addresses of users; and the courts have supported the ISPs in this.
