The biggest complaints I'm hearing (besides bugs in missions) is what is the point? Where is the endgame? As it doesn't have raids like most MMOs

I thought there were going to be "fleet actions" that were the end game equivalent to raids.

But perhaps they haven't been introduced yet.

And 12 races?  Can you say what they all are?  That's pretty badass if they have that many.

Apparently people who ordered direct from Atari bitched enough at the lack of any special pre-order bonus, so we now get 500 free "cryptic points".

I'm willing to bet a lot that most, if not all, of the pre-order bonuses eventually become available as 'microtransactions'.

Ah 12, total, not 12 federation.

Gratzi.

That could be different by Tues, as I said it was only 5 races in mid week.

Beyond Tellarite (and perhaps Ferengi) I can't think of too many that are missing.

Why are the Klingons and Federation fighting?

It's 30 years in the future (from ST: Nemesis).  They invented a whole backstory to explain it.

Do you know what the basic backstory is?  Is there some place to read about it?

Basically after the Romulans home world is destroyed by the SuperNova mentioned in the last Star Trek, the Klingons start reclaiming territory they had given up to Romulans. In the mid 2390's while also re conquering that territory they start a war vs the Gorn and their Nausican allies.

In the game you find out the reason is because members of species 8472 which were introduced in the Voyager TV series have been secretly impersonating high levels of all the Alpha quadrant races as they consider them a threat. When the Klingons bring this to the Federation, who at that time were still their allies (roughly in year 2400) they weren't satisfied with the Federations response and cut off diplomatic relations.

The Klingons become more isolationist and distrusting of all, in 2405 after requesting that Federation move off colonists from worlds bordering Klingon space they declare war on Federation.
