Of course, that was something they gave away a decade ago. I don't really see how that's relevant unless one has a time machine. :D

Well, the point some reviewers make is, "You gave that away for free, and now, for the 25th anniversary, you re-release it for 29.99, and the only major change is adding DRM." :P

Just read Denuvo mention on Steam was a mistake.

Thanks for the correction. :) Still, they used to give it away for free, and now charge 29.99. If it had been 5 or 10 EUR I might have picked it up just because. But not shelling out 30 bucks for a simple, unpolished re-release. :D

Oh yeah I won't pick it up either at that price point.

Thanks CC.

Though I'm not sure I've played much of the 1st two.

I've never played that franchise. What's the gameplay like and how good is it?

Also, would you recommend getting some, none, or all of the DLC?

Grey Fox

For Anno 1800, keep it easy with the base game and maybe some of the cosmetic DLCs.

Anno games are production chain games with flavor.

On and off I've been playing assassins creed valhala.
First AC I've played since black flag - I lost my disc for that :(

It's... Alright.
Though it is depressing how ahistoric it is.
I remember the old acs were really good for this. They had been intensely historically researched with proper recreations of historic cities, liberties were just to shrink places down into better games.

This though... They haven't even tried. The landscape is rarely accurate and there's so much later medieval genetic stuff about like crossbows and lots of stone castles.

Obviously AC is fantasy. Da Vincis flying machine, ancient secret societies, alien artefacts, etc...
But this was always fun wacky story elements on top of the grounded world.
Sad to see this not in place for vikings. I'd love a more historic viking game.

Also - didn't have much time to try out Next Fest demos.  Of the ones I tried, most likely to pick up

Run TavernQuest - 70s/80s style text adventure, except that you play the CPU instead of the player.  Kinda silly but a lot of fun with the 20-minute demo.  The premise is that the person playing the game is an idiot and you have to come up with the AI response to him in game.  It's tempting to punish him - for example when he pointlessly slaughtered a storekeeper I stuck him with a Can of Beans as loot. Problem is - you lose the game if the player gets fed up and shuts it off.  So to keep his character alive, I had to upgrade him later to TRIPLE PROFICIENCY in Beans.  You get the drift.  I'll get the full game if it releases under $20.

Hyper Empire - very streamlined space 4X game, kind of 4X crossed with FTL. Seemed like it filled a niche for when you want a 4x kind of fix but don't want to sink a million hours into it.  Again, likely pick up if priced below 20.

Chains of Freedom (?) - played like one of the Eastern Euro nuke horror shooters (Metro, STALKER) except as a turn-based tactics game.  Not really my thing, but might pick it up later on discount.

Solasta 2 was in the NextFest but I didn't bother with the demo because I've already played Solasta 1.  It's an RPG based on 5th edition dand rules.  Solasta 1 released before BG3 and then kind of faded after BG3 released.  But it was a solid game and the combat was a little better than BG3 in some ways - better tactical use of cover and positioning.

But it's ubisoft, so 50-50 they screw it up somehow.
