Giving in so easily to bullshit European soccer superiority syndrome.

Indeed!

It's actually kind of cool having both tournaments going on at the same time - yet with no games overlapping.  Some days there's near constant international soccer going on.

I'm looking at TSN's schedule for just today:

8:45am Slovakia v Ukraine
11:45am Poland v Austria
2:45pm Netherlands v France
7:45pm Peru v Chile

(there's also a CFL game in there - TSN does have more than one channel)

Isn't the hockey on today too?

Yeah - but on Sportsnet, not TSN.

So Uruguay and the U.S won, I believe.

No reactions?

Colonel Caliga is Awesome.

Valmy

I totally missed Brazil tied Costa Rica. LOL.

Fear CONCACAF baby!

So Brazil is that crappy, as rumored?  :hmm: :P

It was cool we beat Bolivia. Didn't watch it though, I had a busy Sunday.

So I hate to even mention it, but Canada is actually the betting favourite against Peru today...

Yeah this iteration of Brazil is pretty unimpressive, but they actually made enough decent chances against Costa Rica to bury them. Equal parts poor finishing, bad luck, and CONCACAF-level officiating beat Brazil.

Bookies were right.

So if I understand it right - a draw against Chile guarantees Canada to move on to the knockout stage.

I have to admit - that by itself should be considered a successful tournament for Canada.

Getting 3 points was a pretty good showing on its own, I think.

Yeah, but - if Canada could beat Peru - and Peru managed to tie Chile - why shouldn't we be able to pull off at least a draw against Chile?

It's cool when Canada does well. Beating Peru is a very credible showing for the team  :Canuck:
