A defamatory ethnic slur.  The "mob" does not and never existed; it was a mere figment of the fevered imagination of Estes Kefauver.  The law-abiding small businessmen and entrepeneurs of Italian descent targeted by over-zealous prosecutors over the years were victims of crude ethnic stereotypes.  The unusual number of unexplained accidental deaths by gunshot among suspected associates of those individuals was merely an unfortunate coincidence.
