Given 1,000,000,000 tries, I can guess anyone's SS#.

Is it 111-11-1111?  No?  Ok how about 111-11-1112?  Ok then 111-11-1113?

I find this utterly unsurprising.

The excuse I always got when financial institutions ect asked for my SIN (our equivalent) is that it was a unique number that could be used to identify me.  Needless to say that argument did not convince me to hand the number over.  But it is likely that most people simply gave away their number to numerous companies without thinking twice.

Given that it is never required, I never bothered giving it.

They're not random, and anybody who thinks a 9-digit number can securely and positively identify an individual in a population of 250 million is a retard.

Also, I've noticed one pattern in the numbers that gives me two of the digits without fail (definitely not all of them, but still, I've figured out one component), and also tells me that the way the number is broken up with dashes is a duckblind.
