China seems pretty chill.

Those wind chills in Russia are nasty.
I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth.

My big take away is that the world has a relatively positive feeling about China whereas China is terrified of most everybody. They even feel more threatened by Brazil than the US does by them. Very weirdly paranoid people.

Best ex-President the US ever had.

I read it like China is reporting as being chill with anyone and this likely points to the issues with such polls in a state like that.

The best former leader any nation ever had.

Bizzare story doing the rounds today. Anti woke brigade throwing a fit because new editions of Roald Dahl books have changed a few words.... Which is pretty standard in reprints of old books for kids but apparently is 1984 and an affront to free speech

 Because they haven't changed just "a few words", as you're dishonestly (or ignorantly?) stating. And it's not just the anti-woke brigade getting irate about it, either. Genuine leftist authors are in an uproar as well because, again, it isn't just "a few words".
The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

Yeah everyone's up in arms about it including anti-censorship campaigners like US and UK PEN groups.

They have previously edited children's literature (including Dahl) for, say, racism or anti-semitism but this goes way beyond that - and a lot of the replacement text I've seen is just bad writing too (like replacing a mean poem that scans with a less mean poem that doesn't).

It's more like George Lucas revisiting the Star Wars films - except removing references to people being fat

Who made this decision? If it is his own family who did this I would feel differently than if it is the publisher.
